Pole to pole man-powered

Picture
Rob Gauntlett and James Hooper's amazing man-powered pole-to-pole journey. I supported the guys for nearly 6 months last year, driving their support vehicle through Peru, Argentina and Chile and sailing with them in the Southern Ocean on the yacht 'Blizzard' from South America to Sydney via the South Magnetic Pole. Land's End to John O'Groats charity ride '09

Picture
Earlier this year, two young adventurous men, Rob Gauntlett and James Atkinson, died in a tragic climbing accident in the French Alps. The incident was widely covered in the national press, as over the previous few years Rob had not only become the Youngest Briton to summit Mount Everest, but also completed the first ever journey from Pole to Pole using only human and natural power. Between 3rd - 15th August 2009 a large group of family, friends and other supporters will be undertaking the 1000 mile cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End in order to raise money for Rob Gauntlett Trust and the James Atkinson Bequest.  Please click on the logo to find out more about the ride.

Raleigh International expeditions

Picture
Raleigh International expeditions have so far inspired 30,000 people from all walks of life, nationalities to develop new skills, friendships and make a difference to communities and environments across the world. I have been fortunate to be part of two Raleigh expeditions (to Namibia and Belize) and would whole-heartedly recommend the organisation to anyone seeking some time-out to volunteer overseas.
